Description
The Axial Piston High Pressure Pump HPS 5.1~10.2 is specifically designed with two ports and is primarily used in pump group systems. This pump is not self-priming, meaning the inlet pressure must always be positive. Failure to maintain positive inlet pressure can result in permanent pump damage.
Key Guidelines:
Inlet Pressure
- To ensure positive inlet pressure, the simplest approach is to remove the inlet pipe and directly measure the flow. When the water tank is at its lowest liquid level, the water supply flow must be at least 20% greater than the pump’s delivery flow. This prevents negative pressure at the pump inlet during operation.
- Avoid installing filters between the water tank and the pump unless a pressure switch is fitted to the inlet pipe. This ensures that the pump inlet remains unaffected by negative pressure.
Electric Pump Set
- The pump should be connected to the B5 motor flange using a standard bell housing and coupling.
- The pump must not operate under axial or radial loads on the output shaft. Gear couplings are recommended for optimal performance and to avoid misalignment issues.
Operating Temperature
- The HPS 5.1~10.2 operates effectively within a temperature range of 2°C to 50°C.
- For temperatures below freezing, environmentally friendly antifreeze must be added.
- For temperatures above 50°C, operation is possible but may reduce volumetric efficiency. Specify the maximum operating temperature when ordering if it exceeds this range.
Filtration Requirements
- All incoming water must be pre-filtered to a nominal rating of 10 μm (absolute value of 25 μm).
- For closed-loop systems, backflow filtration is an option. While high-pressure filtration is viable, it is typically considered a more costly solution.
Fluid Compatibility
- The standard model is compatible with drinking water and industrial water (e.g., distilled, reverse osmosis, or demineralized water).
- For environments with specific conditions, modifications to the pump’s seals or structural materials may be required.
- Standard construction is suitable for seawater applications; however, due to increased corrosion risk, extended operation may necessitate the use of higher-quality material constructions for longevity.
